Hydrofracturing

When a well does not provide the desired yield and its flow is too low to meet your needs, hydrofracturing, also known as hydraulic fracturing or “hydrofrac,” is often the solution of choice. This method, when carried out correctly, will increase the water flow of your well while ensuring  its sealing remains intact.

Hydraulic fracturing involves forcing water pressure into the well to dislodge certain particles, minerals, or sediments that “block” the water veins.

Using a mechanical packer, Experteau’s experts block the well at a safe height in the rock. Below this packer, they inject chlorine-disinfected water into the well. Our high-pressure pump can push water up to a pressure of 3000 psi. This pressurized water will dislodge the particles that prevent water from entering the well.

Following the operation, which can sometimes last several hours, the water regains its natural flow towards your well. The sterile well thus becomes productive!

Things to remember

ABOUT HYDROFRACTURING

  • Hydraulic fracturing must always be carried out with drinking water. Experteau only uses pre-disinfected water to avoid contaminating the well.
  • It is essential not to place the packer too close to the end of the steel casing, as this could cause problems with surface water infiltration into the well.
  • Experteau uses a mechanical packer that operates without oil. It should be noted that some hydraulic packers inflate using oil pressure, and these pieces of equipment pose an environmental risk.
  • Following hydrofrac work, chlorine disinfection must be carried out to comply with current regulations.
